Make sure your medications work together
Medications are part of everyday life — whether you’re managing your own prescriptions or helping a loved one with theirs. The more prescriptions in the mix, the easier it is for something to slip through the cracks. Over time, routines can get complicated. Refills stack up. Questions come up. And it’s not always clear who to ask.

Why it matters
It’s not uncommon to get medications from more than 1 provider. Your teen sees a dermatologist who prescribes acne medication — and their pediatrician prescribes something for allergies. Your parent has prescriptions from a cardiologist, a primary care doctor and a pain specialist. Each provider knows what they prescribed, but they may not know about the rest.
When medications come from different places, there’s a real chance they don’t work well together — or that interactions can cause serious side effects. Without someone looking at the full picture and connecting the dots, the risks can go unnoticed.
Start the conversation with your pharmacist
You don’t need a problem to ask questions. A pharmacist can answer questions like:
- Do any of my medications interact with each other?
- When and how should I take each one?
- What side effects should I watch for?
- What should I do if I miss a dose?
- Is there a simpler way to manage my medications?
