The Aetna Maternity Program is also available for pregnant employees, spouses and domestic partners on the mainland only. Reminder: The plan doesn’t cover charges related to a dependent child’s pregnancy, including labor and delivery. It only covers services that qualify as preventive services under the Affordable Care Act.

Getting ready for a new baby

Schedule your first prenatal visit as soon as you know (or think) you may be pregnant.

Use Aetna Smart Compare Intelligent Matching on Aetna.com or the Aetna Health app to help you find quality care.

You can also call the Live Healthy Team at 800-814-3543 for help finding a provider or setting up your visit.

Enroll in the Aetna Maternity Program in your first trimester to earn a $200 credit. To enroll, call 855-282-6344 (TTY: 711).

Choose a pediatrician. Start about 3 months before your baby arrives (or adoption). This may help you avoid delays if schedules are full.

Find childcare. Finding the right care can take longer than you expect, so start early.

For help researching options, call Resources for Living (RFL) at 833-721-2320.

Find discounts on childcare with LifeMart. Search “day care” on Costcobenefits.com.

Get a breast pump. If you plan to breastfeed, talk with an Aetna Maternity Program nurse about 2 months before your due date. They can help you order a breast pump, covered at 100%.

Complete the 28-week nurse call. You’ll earn another $150 credit if you’re enrolled in the Aetna Maternity Program.

Plan for maternity or bonding leave so you have time to rest, recover and bond with your baby or adopted child.

LeaveLogic through Unum can help you plan your leave and understand the benefits available to you. Get started at costco.leavelogic.com. LeaveLogic isn’t available yet in Puerto Rico.

Install your car seat correctly. Place it rear-facing in the back seat and make sure the base doesn’t move more than an inch. Not sure it’s right? Many hospitals and fire stations offer free car seat checks.

Get breastfeeding and lactation support. You can get support in the hospital after your baby is born, as needed. Plus, get help from a lactation consultant when you go home. Search “lactation” under “Find Care” in the Aetna Health app.

Enroll your newborn or adopted child into your health plan within 60 days of their birth or adoption. They’re not automatically added, so enroll as soon as possible — even if you’re waiting for a Social Security number or birth certificate. To enroll, log in to Costcobenefits.com or call 800-541-6205.

Complete a postpartum nurse screening. Talk with a nurse about any concerns or questions you have. You’ll earn $50, for a total of up to $400 for engaging with the Aetna Maternity Program.
